Relief Teacher and/or Relief Learning Assistant

ÁñÁ«ÉçÇø welcomes expressions of interest for relief teaching and teacher aide work across our Primary and Secondary schools at any time during the year.

  • Current resume detailing your work experience as specific to the role
  • Contact details for three (3) referees (preferably former direct supervisors)
  • Proof of Queensland Teacher Registration (Teacher candidates only)
  • Paid Working with Children Check Blue Card (Learning Assistant Candidates only)
  • Proof of current vaccination status (the College is considered as a high-risk setting)
  • Copies of your formal qualifications as specific to the role you have applied for

Vocational Teacher Aide Placements

ÁñÁ«ÉçÇø will not be taking on any vocational placements until Semester 2 of 2022.

Candidates enrolled to study a Certificate III in Educational Support can apply for a Vocational Teacher Aide placement at any time during the year, however applications are pooled for consideration as part of two block placements per year.

Block placement one covers Term 1 & 2 and Block placement 2 covers Term 3 & 4.

Places are limited, and successful candidates must be prepared to work across both the Primary and Secondary schools. A vocational placement with the College does not guarantee employment with the College on completion of your course.

Engineering and STEM Teacher

We invite candidates to apply for the Engineering and STEM Teacher position. This will be a full-time permanent appointment commencing on 5 August 2024.

You will aspire to develop the capabilities of our ‘Lakes Learners’ with the passion and drive to generate knowledge, spark curiosity, build character and promote connection within our inclusive College Community.

Responsible to the Head of Secondary, you will act under the direction of the curriculum Heads of Faculty, developing and delivering a contemporary, innovative curriculum which is underpinned by clear expectations about high-quality learning outcomes in a culturally diverse society.

As an Engineering and STEM teacher, you will be able to apply the QCAA Engineering syllabus and play an important role in the engagement of senior secondary students as they engage in a design thinking methodology that explores mechanics, materials science, and control technologies through real-world engineering contexts.

You will promote curiosity and innovation with our junior secondary students through a multi-disciplinary approach to the teaching of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.

The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate their understanding of the relevant QCAA and ACARA curriculum and how they can apply it in a contemporary educational setting, while also catering to the learning needs of their students.

In your application, please include a covering letter (maximum 2 pages) which addresses the following key selection criteria along with a detailed resume.

  • Demonstrated experience developing an engaging teaching and learning culture as a Secondary Engineering and STEM teacher.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the relevant curriculum for both senior secondary and junior secondary.
  • Commitment to supporting ‘TLC Beyond’, the College’s signature extracurricular program.
  • Demonstrated experience building a culture of positive relationship management with students, families, and colleagues.
  • Commitment to the Uniting Church ethos and an inclusive College community.
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications as needed for the role.
  • Current Queensland College of Teachers registration.
